This Point of View modified mini unit was designed for students who required additional visual support to grasp the literacy skill of identifying ‘who is telling the story and how do they know’ (RL.1.6). I have used this with all levels of elementary school students and has been very successful (works well with Tier 2, Tier 3, ELL/ESL and Special Needs Students). The unit includes Picture Symbol Text Supports and a variety of differentiated levels of visual supports for all academic needs. This visual structure has been very successful with students who require that additional visual support for making connections and understanding concepts. The language has been simplified and allows for consistent academic language needed to learn these skills.
